Director's Statement

My directorial vision is rooted in the juxtaposition of suburban domesticity and the immense grit of existence: Ex-Catholic nuns riding motorcycles, 50s housewives finding sexual liberation, little girls having to step into the role of "parent."

I often find myself nostalgic for a time I never lived in, always living with one foot in a past life. This old soul sensibility heavily influences my storytelling approach. By setting narratives in past eras, I believe it's possible to highlight timeless facets of society such as female sexual liberation, transgression from religion, and the idea of chosen family in an evocative and meaningful way.

My stylistic leanings veer towards the unconventional. I strive to create films that echo the unique aesthetics of their era, incorporating vintage techniques to replicate the look, sound and essence of that time. My goal is to craft a cinematic experience that feels plucked from the pages of history, yet in its essence, pushes the boundaries of social norms and narratives, creating something that’s both timeless and ahead of its time.
